We recommend you stay in El Centro (downtown) while in Mérida and find a hotel or other rental between Monumento a la Patria to the north, Calle 65 to the south, Calle 42 to the east, and Calle 72 to the west. This way, you’ll be within walking distance of all attractions, restaurants, and bars in the area.

The Major Hotel

There are various brandname hotels operating in Mérida, including Marriott, Hilton, IHG, and Wyndham. There are also some large historic hotels like Fiesta Americana that could be worth a look.

We have made a group reservation at the HYATT REGENCY MÉRIDA, which is in Zona Paseo Montejo, perfectly situated amid other large hotels, and close to the heart of El Centro as well as the periférico (“ring road”) that will get you out of the city.

Note: Shuttle vans to the wedding venue on Saturday will depart from the Hyatt. Returning vans will stop first at the Hyatt and then at the intersection of C. 60 & C. 47 (Parque de Santa Ana) in the heart of El Centro.

We have arranged for special rates at the following two hotels, both located in El Centro:

MOREIRA HOTEL BOUTIQUE, which is owned by Mau’s family, and operated by the Moreira Group, is right across from Parque de Santa Lucía.

There are 12 rooms to rent here, and you will get a special rate by mentioning the Diaz-Yanez Wedding when you book by phone/WhatsApp or email. This rate is not available to book online.

Please note that this hotel is for adults only. Every room has a single king-sized bed, and is roughly the same size, but some rooms have balconies.

CASA DE LAS PALOMAS, which is owned by Mau’s sister-in-law’s family, is just a couple blocks away from another centrally located park, Parque de Santa Ana.

OTHER RENTALS

There are many renovated homes in El Centro that are let via sites like AirBnb, Vrbo, HomeToGo, and local agencies like Mérida Rentals.

While we recommend staying in El Centro, so you’ll be close to Friday and Sunday events, and be able to take advantage of shuttle vans to the wedding venue on Saturday, if you want to look at larger villas in the wider region, this site could be a good resource.
